Q:  What is the difference between Travel hammock and a Single, Double or Family hammocks?
A:   A travel hammock is designed to be portable and to hold one person.  It is ideal for camping or travel because of its light weight and space saving size when packing.  Our single, double and family hammocks have a wood cross bar, making them larger to pack and heavier as well.  Both require the same method of hanging.

Q:  How do I care for my hammock?
A:   Under normal use, you will enjoy using your hammock for years.  You can increase it's life by storing your hammock in a clean and dry area during the seasons you are not using it.  Keep hammocks away from all pets that may chew or nest in rope.  Wash your hammock in cold to lukewarm water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.  Hang hammock to dry completely before use.  Do not use strong chemicals, cleaners or bleach on any part of hammock.  For more tips visit "Care Tips".

Q:  Can I leave my hammock out all year round?
A:   With proper care your NiCana hammock will provide you with years of enjoyment and relaxation.  All hammocks are made of 100% cotton yarn and are 100% hand made.  Because of this, they may eventually fade over the years, depending on the colour you choose.  To prolong fading and to extend its quality, please avoid leaving your hammock outside at all times.  It is a good idea to bring you hammock indoors when it's not in use, and when it rains, snows, etc.    For more tips visit "Care Tips".

Hammocks are not just for outdoor use.  They make wonderful daybeds and reading areas indoors as well.  Think of using them in your library, reading areas, basement, sunrooms and garden rooms.  They will provide you with endless style and comfort.

Q:  What is the proper way to hang a hammock?
A:   Traditionally hung between two trees, you can hang a hammock between post set in the ground, on a deck, on a hammock stand or form a ceiling beam. If you are hanging the hammock from a tree, as a rule, the tree should be a minimum of 6” in diameter. If using a post,  4”X4” is the smallest size we recommend using. Be sure the posts are in good condition, without cracks or rot. Trees and posts both should be hardwood, not soft, and whatever posts chosen should be treated lumber, or a type of wood resistant to rot, from exposure to moisture. Posts should be cemented in the ground a minimum of two feet, deeper if the soil is sandy. Place post in the center of the cement filled hole and let dry 48-72 hours before use.

The minimum distance required to hang your hammock will be equal to the overall length of the hammock. If your  hammock is 13 feet from end ring to end ring, this is the minimum distance required to hang your hammock. One foot longer is recommended. Hammock end points should be hung 5-6 feet high. If the two hanging points for the hammock are farther apart than the overall length of the hammock, use either rope or chain to extend your hanging points. The same would apply to a stand. We recommend extending the hanging points in equal lengths on both ends of the hammock. We also suggest extending the hanging points no farther than 18 inches on each end for a total of an additional 3 feet. The more it’s extended past 3 feet, the more unstable it will become. For diagrams and hanging methods visit "How to hang a hammock".

Q:  How should I clean my hammock?
A:   To clean you hammock, simply wash it in cold to lukewarm water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.  Hang hammock to dry completely before use.  Do not use strong chemicals, cleaners or bleach on any part of your hammock.  For more tips visit "Care Tips".

Q:  What is the proper way to store a hammock when not being used?
A:   When you are not using your hammock you should store your hammock in a clean, dry area.  Away from pets, rodents and other nesting animals.  To fold your hammock away for storage, simply lay it flat and fold in both sides of the hanger ropes.  Fold in fringes towards center of hammock body.  Then, roll each spreader bar towards the middle of the hammock.  When finished, tie the two spreader bars on one side together, with string or  a strong elastic band and then repeat at other end of hammock.  For more tips visit "Care Tips".

Q:  Are hammocks for outdoor use only?
A:   No.  Hammocks are not just for outdoor use.  They make wonderful daybeds and reading areas indoors as well.  Think of using them in your library, reading areas, basement, sunrooms and garden rooms.  They will provide you with endless style and comfort.
